— Spring 2020 date TBA —

Be led, fed and inspired on this curated tour of arts

The Makers Trail

We have postponed Open Studio’s Exhibition and Weekend in May until Spring 2020. This is a highlight in the community’s calendar so we will try our best to find a suitable date in spring for this event to take place.

At the forefront of this difficult decision was the safety and well-being of artists who open their homes and studios and for the thousands of visitors that attend the weekend. For full statement see Burrinja announcement regarding COVID-19

Let us take the wheel with this full day curated bus tour of Dandenong Ranges Open Studios. Includes visiting 4 studio locations, Open Studios exhibition WABI SABI: The beauty of imperfection and lunch.

You can choose Saturday 9 or Sunday 10 May 2020 and join fellow art lovers on a fuss-free tour of the inspiring, the thoughtful and the fearless as you discover the delights of Dandenong Ranges Open Studios 2020.

Second visit is Creature Box studio of mixed media artist Nerrisa Box — In her professional life Nerissa creates large scale animatronic creatures for film, theatre and theme parks internationally. These influence and inspired her private mixed media pieces.

We go on to explore the studio and works of Chris Lawry — Her exquisitely detailed Lino cut prints are traditionally printed by hand. Either on an etching press - between metal rollers, or by rubbing the back of the printing paper over the hand carved block with a wooden spoon or burin.

Our tour continues to the gallery studios of husband and wife, Ross Miller and Gina Miller — Ross’s sculptures of bronze, wood, cement fondu and stone are not just objects. They hold a narrative motivated by a life time of travel and observations. Gina explores colours and textures, bending the ideas of realism into abstract, inviting you to see different stories in her paintings.

We will meander back through the luscious Dandenong Ranges to Burrinja for a catered lunch and refresments.

At Burrinja, we will explore the new aerie creative ecology studios at the heart of Burrinja. Aerie houses an eclectic selection of artists including painters, a glass artist, a photographer, a ceramist and more.

Our curated tour of arts will conclude with a visit to this years Dandenong Ranges Open Studios Group Exhibition.
